the most positive person in tamperenews

I would like to take a moment to congratulate Jonne Aaron, singer and frontman of Negative, on winning the title as the most positive person in Tampere.

Jonne and his band have inspired many young people to believe in themselves and reach for their dreams.

After receiving the price, there was a short acoustic concert.

The Finnish Vampire rockers (or so they call themselves) came to Copenhagen last weekend.

I went to see them at The Rock with a couple of friends and had a blast of a time. There is just something about this band that is so amusing and makes me giggle and laugh...they're always a fun gig as well as they do actually know how to rock.

Back in December I was so lucky as to win a Sony Cybershot DSC-WX1 camera in a competition and I decided that now was the time to test it out. My current camera (Olympus SP-560UZ) isn't a very great camera when it comes to indoor/bad lit concerts as well as it can't record sound and I love making videos at concerts as well.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Sony stood the distance and delivered really good quality photos of an art that I could never have achieved with my Olympus. In addition to that, the videos were of great quality, and most importantly, the sound quality exceeded expectations.

Photos from the gig are to be found in here.

These are my videos - in the first one I briefly aimed the camera at me and my friend. I'm the redhead. Ignore my face. ;D

Last Wednesday at Klubi, Turku, something very beautiful took place.

This year marks the 5 year anniversary of the Raskasta Joulua concept - basically, it is Finnish (national and "translated") Christmas songs, done heavy metal style. The songs are all covered with different genres of metal and often it is difficult to recognise the original song.
It is all done by professional musicians and artists in the spirit of Christmas. Two albums have been put out, Raskasta Joulua and Raskaampa Joulua.

In Turku the vocalists were Marco Hietala, Tommi "Tuple" Salmela and JP Leppäluoto and they delivered so the roof nearly soared off the building. It was fun, it was magical and perhaps most important of all, it was heavy. ;)

Photos from the concert are of course in my gallery: raskasta joulua 09.

Merry Christmas | Hyvää joulua!

I finally decided to share and upload my photos of Finnish windows.

Yeah, you got me right. Finnish windows have fascinated me beyond belief ever since I first set foot in Finland. Their windows are not just glass in a frame - thermal, double or triple or what will you.
No, it seems that Finnish windows are an art in themselves, expanding from simple to very ornate.

My collection of photos is rather small, as often I have not had opportunity to stop and take a photo - most often I spot windows when I'm on the bus to and fro places. I've seen some beautiful windows in Hämeenlinna that I plan on going back to visit next year, as well as a few simple, yet delicate, windows in Turku that are first on my 'to-do' list for when I return in December. There are windows in Jyväskylä and Tampere I haven't had the opportunity to photograph, as well as in Helsinki....I think you get my point.

So for now, bear with the overload of photos from Naantali.

Last night I was at The Rock to see Tracy Gang Pussy in action. Tracy Gang Pussy is a French sleaze punk rock'n'roll band - the first and only of its kind in France. I heard of these guys a couple of years ago, got The Black Album, played it occasionally (I recommend " Black 'Kick ass version' ") and didn't think much about them until I saw they were coming to Copenhagen.

The guys kicked ass live and the photos are to be found here. After the gig, my friend Anna and I had an interview with the band that is to be aired on Kiks Radio (Copenhagen only) one of the upcoming Tuesdays. I'll get back with more info when I know more.

A big thanks goes to the guys - Revlon, 8-balled, Suicide and Lucky Boii - for a great gig, amazing evening and of course for the interview.
